Quick healthy breakfast: replace your unhealthy habits with these 8 alternatives

No time for a healthy breakfast in the morning, so grab a bowl of Kellog’s, go to the baker’s for croissants or chocolate sandwiches? Get rid of that bad habit. There are plenty of healthy alternatives to get a quick healthy breakfast on the table in no time, as long as you’re a little creative. No inspiration? Here are some quick breakfast recipes that will save you time in the morning in a healthy way.

1. Replace your cereal with oatmeal and proteins

Oatmeal is a great source of energy. Unlike a bowl of richly sugared cornflakes, oat flakes are a low-sugar alternative. Moreover, oatmeal is rich in fibre and contains enough complex carbohydrates to give your body a strong energy boost. The preparation is relatively fast. Heat half a cup of oat flakes with milk or protein powder. As a finishing touch you can add slices of banana and some nuts to complete this delicious breakfast.

2. Being creative with quinoa bites instead of gingerbreads

Quina bites is a delicious new way to enjoy quinoa. It takes a bit of preparation, but the next morning you have a quick and healthy breakfast that presents itself as a healthy cookie. Combine two scoops of boiled quinoa with two eggs, a handful of vegetables (spinach and zucchini for example), grated cheese and a little salt and pepper. Mix all this together in a bowl and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

3. No more sandwiches, take banana muffins as a healthy snack

Sometimes it’s hard to stay away from those sandwiches. That’s why they look so delicious. If you still want to feel like snacking, but in a healthy way, go for a banana muffin. Here too you have a little bit of preparation, but you can make a delicious week’s supply and save yourself a lot of time in the morning. How do you go about it? Mix 125 grams of oatmeal, 150 millilitres of milk, one egg, two mashed bananas, two tablespoons of cinnamon, one teaspoon of baking powder and some finely chopped walnuts. Fill a number of greased muffin moulds and bake for twenty minutes in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius. Tasty!

4. Ice cream for breakfast? Go for frozen yoghurt instead!

Ice cream for breakfast as a sweet sin? We sometimes turn a blind eye to that. But there is also a healthier alternative. Frozen yoghurt is a quick healthy breakfast that requires little work and presents as tasty as an ice cream.

Mix the contents of a full pot of Greek yogurt with some red fruit and oatmeal, put it in a baking tin, iron everything nice and smooth and put it in the freezer. A few hours later you can take everything out, cut it into pieces and put your portions back in the freezer. In the morning you just have to take a piece and you can leave immediately.

5. Replace your rice pudding or chocolate mousse with muesli and yoghurt

Leave that tempting pot of rice pudding in the fridge. For a tasty and quick healthy breakfast, just mix some muesli with low-fat yoghurt. As a final touch you can add some fresh fruit or pieces of fruit such as raspberries, strawberries, blueberries or slices of banana.

6. Omelette wraps instead of bacon with eggs as a quick healthy breakfast

Omelette wraps form an original, delicious and fast healthy breakfast that takes little effort.

Get me the following ingredients:

  • 1 lemon
  • 75 g or 2/3 cup watercress
  • 200 g or 7 oz cottage-cheese
  • 100 g or 3,5 oz smoked salmon
  • 6 medium eggs
  • 50 ml or 2/3 fl oz skimmed milk
  • 4 tsp Euroma Scandinavian spices for salmon
  • 4 tsp peanut oil

How are you doing now? Clean the lemon and grate the yellow peel. Chop the watercress coarsely. Then put the cottage cheese with the lemon rind and the watercress in a tall cup and puree it with a hand blender. Cut the smoked salmon into strips and beat the eggs with the milk and salmon herbs.

Then fry an omelette in the pan and divide the cottage cheese mixture and salmon over the omelettes. Then roll it up and feast!

7. Apple and cheddar instead of your Nutella sandwich

Will you keep it simple? Then a Nutella sandwich is fast but we shouldn’t tell you that’s not healthy. An even simpler and equally sweet alternative is apple and cheddar.

An apple is a great source of fibre and has fast-acting carbohydrates that give you an energy boost. Together with low-fat cheddar cheese, which is rich in protein and calcium, you’ll have a complete and quick healthy breakfast in no time.

8. Goodmorning as a healthy ready-to-drink breakfast

Stay away from drinking yoghurt that is often full of added sugars. Choose a healthier alternative. Goodmorning is a quick healthy breakfast that you just take out of the fridge and take with you wherever you go. Tamashi’s breakfast drink also offers a balanced mix of complex carbohydrates, proteins and fats and is packed full of vitamins, minerals and fibre that give you a strong energy boost to get through your day.

Goodmorning is actually a delicious and easy replacement for all the above guilty pleasures.
